Some Pre-Thanksgiving Snow for Golden Valley

The snow started falling in the afternoon, making for some slippery driving conditions.

Mother nature has decided to make her mark on Golden Valley this Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Plows were out in full force across the city today after the snow started coming down early this afternoon. Golden Valley officials say the city first plows main arterial streets that connect neighborhoods to state and county roads. Once vehicles can start making their way through the main roads, then the city will turn their attention to all city streets.

As of 6pm tonight, Golden Valley police said they weren't sure whether a snow emergency would go into effect (two inches of snow has to fall for that to happen), but they said residents should be prepared for a snow emergency and park their cars in a driveway to make room for the snow plows.

If the city does call a snow emergency, Golden Valley police will ticket any vehicles in violation. Those still in violation after 24 hours may be towed.

Meanwhile, businesses across the city tried to clear their parking lots of snow and ice to accommodate their customers.

Golden Valley children, on the other hand, made the most of the snowfall and took their sleds to local parks for some outdoor fun.
