WATCH: Cooling Off At Lakeview Heights Park in Golden Valley

The weekly summer Police and Fire in the Parks program visited Lakeview Heights Park July 11 in Golden Valley.

Ever wonder what it feels like to get cooled off by a fire hose?

You don't have to wonder at a Police and Fire in the Parks program event.

Cooling off by a fire hose on a  hot day July 11, neighborhood children and their parents gathered at Lakeview Heights Park in Golden Valley.

Not only did a Golden Valley Fire truck come by with its hose on acting as a giant water sprinkler to run and play in, but Golden Valley Police officers were on hand to hand out ice cream treats, frisbees and safety advice to those present.

Since 2010, the Police and Fire in the Parks program has been visiting city parks to spread the word on safety and spread the joy with water fire hose fun on hot days for free to neighborhood families.

There are seven parks visited starting in June and lasting until the end of July. The last two events will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 18, at Scheid Park and 3 p.m. Thursday, July 25, at Gearty Park.
