Damon Struyk, Neighbor

I was born and raised in Minneapolis.  My wife (Angelique) and I, together with our three children (Simon 9, John 7 and Josephine 3) and two yellow Labs (Jack 12 and Sam 11) have lived in the North Tyrol neighborhood of Golden Valley for the last seven years.  We love it here.

We were drawn to the neighborhood because of its beauty, location and wonderful public school district.  Nearly every day of each week we are in nearby Theodore Wirth Park either running, biking, skiing, walking or just generally enjoying the nature of the place.

I currently practice law on my own (Damon N. Struyk, P.L.L.C. -- struyklaw.com website coming soon, I hope), which consists of a little bit of this and that, but mostly basic estate planning.  I'm an avid runner, nordic skier and reader when time permits.

About one year ago I became aware of potential improvements to Wirth Park, that the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board was forming a Citizens Advisory Committee ("CAC") in this regard, and that Golden Valley was invited to participate with a committee seat.  Because I care very deeply about Wirth Park I asked our Mayor, Linda Loomis, for appointment to the committee, which she graciously granted.  I am very grateful for the opportunity.  I have learned a lot about Wirth Park and our wonderful neighbors.  I am here to keep you updated on the progress of the CAC, to listen to and convey any of your issues or concerns, and generally to post about 'happenings' in Wirth Park that may be of interest.  I thank you in advance for reading and commenting, if you do.
