Over the next month, the community will be able to vote on the playground they like best.
Editor’s Note: The following announcement comes from Hopkins Public Schools. Thanks to a group of dedicated parents, Eisenhower+XinXing students will have a new playground to play on as soon as this spring. The playground will be inclusive to all ages and abilities, promote physical fitness, and provide a safe place for children to play. Most of the playground will be funded by a $200,000 grant from Hennepin County, although Hopkins Public Schools, Eisenhower PTO, and Bei Dou Xing donated funds, as well. "Our school is so excited about our new playground," said parent Penny Thompson-Burke. "It will get a lot of use from the larger Hopkins community." The grant would not be possible without the efforts of Thompson-Burke, Paul Bushmann …

The event is part of I Love to Read Month.
Summer may still be a few months off, but Eisenhower Elementary students are already in the midst a two-week camp. Camp Read-A-Lot celebrates I Love to Read Month. Between Feb. 22 and March 2, the students are experiencing a variety of activities that bring together books and a camp theme. PTO volunteers covered classroom doors with paper, and classes decorated them with reading themes. Students also take time during the school day to read—with older students joining the younger ones as “reading buddies.” The reading celebration also includes guest readers, dress-as-a-camper day, bingo, camp skits, nature hikes and other events.

Last week, Education Minnesota named Wosika as one of its candidates for teacher of the year. Hopkins Patch talked with Wosika via an e-mail interview about her profession and what it means to be up for the annual award. *** Hopkins Patch: What school did you go to? Anna Wosika: I grew up in Prior Lake, Minnesota and went to Mankato State for teaching early childhood education and elementary education. Hopkins Patch: How long have you been teaching? Wosika: I have been teaching since 2002 and started with Hopkins in 2004 …
