Cross-Country Ski Trail, Sledding Hill Conditions in Three Rivers Parks

Checking out trails or sledding hills? Make sure to find out the snow conditions first.

The following was provided by Three Rivers Park District as of Feb. 14, 2013.  For more information, call the trail hotline at 763-559-6778.  Three Rivers Park District parks are open 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, facility hours vary.  Open Sledding Hills Good Trail Conditions Fair Trail Conditions  Check out the individual park pages for ski trail maps. Five Free Places to Find Sledding Hills in Three Rivers Parks

Plus, a few other sledding and snow tubing options at west metro parks.

Looking for a place to sled this winter? Here are five places in Three Rivers Parks to find sledding hills. Click on the park name for more information. Sledding hills are unsupervised, according to the Three Rivers Park District website and children should be accompanied by an adult. If conditions are poor or in cases of cold temperatures, hills could be closed. Snow tubing is an option as well, for a fee, at the Elm Creek Park Reserve. Some Pre-Thanksgiving Snow for Golden Valley

The snow started falling in the afternoon, making for some slippery driving conditions.

Mother nature has decided to make her mark on Golden Valley this Thanksgiving holiday weekend.  Plows were out in full force across the city today after the snow started coming down early this afternoon. Golden Valley officials say the city first plows main arterial streets that connect neighborhoods to state and county roads. Once vehicles can start making their way through the main roads, then the city will turn their attention to all city streets. As of 6pm tonight, Golden Valley police said they weren't sure whether a snow emergency would go into effect (two inches of snow has to fall for that to happen), but they said residents should be prepared for a snow emergency and park their cars in a driveway to make room for the snow plows.  …
