General Mills Recalls Some Cascadian Farm Granola Bars

This is General Mills' second recall involving granola bars in the last month.

On Oct. 9, General Mills released a statement that announced the recall of a limited number of Cascadian Farm Granola Bars. This is the second granola bar recall for the Golden Valley-based company in the last month. At the end of September, General Mills issued a voluntary recall of 1,200 Almond Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars. According to the statement released on Tuesday, the recall was issued as "a precaution because peanut pieces in the products may have been sourced from Sunland, Inc., a peanut supplier that recently expanded its recall of peanut ingredients." Sunland, Inc. is the same company responsible for the large peanut butter recall that includes several well-known brands and a variety of peanut butter products …

General Mills Recalls Batch of Granola Bars

The recall includes boxes of Almond Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars.

In a statement released Wednesday, General Mills said that a packaging error resulted in the mislabeling of 1,200 Almond Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars. Because some packages failed to mention that the bars contain peanuts, the company issued a voluntary recall. According to the press release, "a production error resulted in a limited number of properly labeled, individually wrapped Peanut Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bar packages being inserted into 6-count boxes labeled as Almond Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars." The statement went on to say that the Class 1 recall includes six-count boxes of Almond Nature Valley Sweet & Salty Nut Granola Bars with the "Better if Used By" date of "26FEB2013" printed …
