On Aug. 20, a Golden Valley motorcyclist dodged cars and dipped in and out of traffic during a police chase that reached speeds of 120 mph. Nathan Ford Nishizuka, 25, is charged with fleeing a peace officer in a motor vehicle, a felony with a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $5,000 fine. According to the criminal complaint, signed by Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Dan Beasley, troopers on routine patrol near Interstates 94 and 394 spotted Nishizuka’s motorcycle exceeding the speed limit just before 1:30 a.m. Aug. 20. Troopers began to pursue Nishizuka after activating their emergency lights and siren, but Nishizuka accelerated to 75 mph and began passing numerous vehicles, occasionally reaching a speed of 120 mph as he tried to …
Golden Valley and Minnetonka Police Departments arrested Jeffrey Frank, of Richfield, at Interstate 394 and Highway 100 on Aug. 21.
Golden Valley Police confirmed Thursday that Jeffrey Frederick Frank, 66, of Richfield, was the man arrested in a police ambush Tuesday, causing officers to shut down portions of Interstate 394 and Minnesota Highway 100. Joanne Paul, crime analyst with the Golden Valley Police Department, told Patch that because there was a felony warrant out for Frank's arrest, Golden Valley Police deployed five squad cars to execute the warrant, in addition to help from the Minnetonka Police Department. The Facebook site Police Clips stated that Frank had a record of assaulting officers and fleeing in the past. Paul added that Frank's previous criminal history made police take extra precaution. On Aug. 7, after being pulled over for failing to stop at a stop sign around 1 a.m., a 19-year-old St. Cloud man was arrested on drug-related charges including possession of marijuana in his motor vehicle and possession of drug paraphernalia. The man also was cited for having an open bottle of alcohol in his vehicle. A Golden Valley man has been charged with strangling his wife after she swore at him and threatened to leave him. Jamal Diin Omar, 34, is charged with domestic assault by strangulation, a felony with a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $5,000 fine. According to the criminal complaint, signed by Golden Valley Police Detective Laura Gould, police were called to Methodist Hospital just after 2:30 a.m. Aug. 4 on a report of a domestic assault. The victim told police that her husband, Omar, became upset after she used a “curse word.” When she told him she was leaving, Omar put both hands around her throat and squeezed, she told officers. Police say 19-year-old Christopher Thomas Parker forced his wife to leave work early and then, after she managed to get away from him, broke into her locked house and strangled and punched her.
Christopher Thomas Parker, of Golden Valley, was charged with domestic assault by strangulation, a felony with a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Authorities say Parker is facing possible additional charges of false imprisonment pending an investigation. According to the criminal complaint signed by Golden Valley Police Sgt. Dennis Arons: Police were called to Duluth and Regent avenues just before 10 p.m. July 30 on a report of a woman trying to escape from a Buick LeSabre.
