Thousands Expected To Attend Nearby Winter Festival

Families from Golden Valley will head north this Saturday to take part in Plymouth's annual Fire & Ice festival.

Plymouth Fire & Ice is set for this weekend. The 24th annual event has a host of fun winter activities happening at Parkers Lake Park. “We look forward to this event each year,” Event Co-Coordinator Travis Karlen said. “It takes months of planning, but it’s one of the best attended events the city hosts.” Karlen says the event takes six to eight months to plan and draws about 5,000 from the area. “It takes a lot of work, a lot of planning and more than one hundred volunteers to pull this event off,” he said. “But it’s a unique event and we think the time and effort is well worth it.” The event hosts a variety of kid-friendly activities, including a petting zoo, sled dog rides and an ice fishing competition. Thousands of people will head to Plymouth on Saturday to enjoy the 24th annual Fire & Ice festival. The event always draws a crowd and this year organizers expect nothing different. The event is held at Parkers Lake Park and runs from 2:00pm-7:30pm. If you’re headed to the event, here are a few things you should know before you go. Parking There is limited parking at Parkers Lake Park, which is off County Road 6. If that lot is full, there will be a shuttle bus running from Oakwood Playfield to the Parkers Lake.
