Mortenson Construction is keeping up a swift pace in its expansion and updating of Chicago Bears headquarters Halas Hall. The Golden Valley-based company started work as soon as the NFL’s regular season ended Dec. 30 and must complete work on the Lake Forest, IL, facility by Aug. 1, when the Bears start regular season training camp, according to a Mortenson news release. The project will add 30,000 square feet to Halas Hall’s current 100,000 square feet. The Golden Valley-based business that has built sports facilities for the Twins, Wild and Timberwolves will now help build the $975 million stadium for the Minnesota Vikings in Minneapolis, according to media reports.
A bid to build the new Minnesota Vikings Stadium has paid off for one Golden Valley company. Mortenson Construction was named by the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority at its Feb. 15 meeting as the construction manager to build the new sports venue, according to a WCCO.com report. Mortenson Construction was one of six firms showing interest in possibly building the new Minnesota Vikings stadium.
Six construction firms, including one from Golden Valley, met with the Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA) and the Minnesota Vikings Jan. 11 in a pre-proposal meeting about the new stadium. Golden Valley-based Mortenson Construction was among the firms to attend.
