Updated: Abducted Minneapolis Baby Found Safe

Media outlets report that the 8-month-old baby taken from a Minneapolis apartment Wednesday afternoon was found safe.

Updated Wednesday, 4:15 p.m. A little after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, KSTP reported that police found 8-month-old Carlos Orozco. Orozco was taken from an apartment while his mother was showering. Reporters say a suspect is in custody. *** Original story In an urgent Facebook plea, the Minneapolis Police Department posted a request for help this afternoon. According to police, a woman in an apartment located in the 2100 block of Portland Avenue South was taking shower around noon Wednesday. She had placed her 8-month-old baby boy in his car seat. When she got out of the shower, the baby, named Carlos Orozco, was gone. In a press release, police said Carlos is Hispanic and not yet mobile. Police Nab 104 in Christmas DWI Sweep

Minneapolis, Golden Valley, Hopkins police collaborate with other area agencies.

Warning motorists to "Get sober or get pulled over," area police mounted a campaign against drunk drivers during December. Their efforts, according to the Minneapolis Police Department, netted 104 arrests. Thousands of Twin Cities residents drive to and from area bars every weekend. “DWI patrols are effective to reducing drunk driving activity, but it is clear that the issue remains a real problem that puts our roads in danger,” Minneapolis police Sgt. Rich Lee said in a written statement. Police promised "enhanced" DWI patrols through the end of 2013. According to police, drunk driving crashes accounted for 37 deaths and 106 serious injuries in Hennepin County from 2009 through 2011. 19,887 drivers were arrested for drunk driving in the …

UPDATED: Car Falls Through The Ice At Cedar Lake

UPDATE 8:42 p.m. 12/13/12: Around 3 p.m., Honda Civic plunged into the icy depths of Cedar Lake in Minneapolis. Minneapolis firefighters, police officers, and Hennepin County Sheriff's deputies raced to the scene, deploying two airboats in what appeared to be a desperate race to rescue survivors. When Sheriff's Department divers reached the submerged sedan, however, there were no bodies to be found. It wasn't a sign of The Rapture, but something altogether more suspicious.  An hour after emergency crews raced to the lake, Sheriff's Department spokesperson Lisa Kiava told Patch in an email that the car was, in fact, stolen.
