Hopkins High School basketball teams feature prominently in Breakdown Sports USA’s annual March Madness state tournament preview, which was released Tuesday. The annual publication declared the Royals as the top girls team regardless of class and predicted that they’d win section 6AAAA—“also known as ‘The Hopkins Section,’” the magazine wrote—and then go on to win the class AAAA championship. Hopkins senior Nia Coffey received a slew of individual honors. Buffalo Wild Wings, based in Golden Valley, announced Tuesday it has entered into partnership with the NCAA. The agreement designates Buffalo Wild Wings as the “Official Hangout of March Madness” and includes "marketing, media and activation rights related to all 89 NCAA championships through 2016", according to a press release from Buffalo Wild Wings. “Sports are part of Buffalo Wild Wings’ DNA,” said Kathy Benning, Buffalo Wild Wings executive vice president of global brand and business development. “As we continually strive to enhance the game-day experience for sports fans in our restaurants, we are looking for ways to align with top sports properties and deepen our engagement with our Guests. The Bloomington sports bar squeaked out a close win in our latest Readers' Choice vote.
Just in time for this weekend's Final Four matchups of the 2012 NCAA Tournament, a winner has emerged in the voting for the best place to catch March Madness in the West Metro. Joe Senser's Sports Theater, a Bloomington staple for viewing sporting events of all types, narrowly beat out Bunny's Bar & Grill in St. Louis Park to secure the Readers' Choice award. With a total of 10 locations in the running, Joe Senser's and Bunny's quickly ran away with the popular vote. They finished with 54 and 51 votes, respectively. That's out of 134 total votes.
