Closures will continue until the project is completed in mid July.
Drivers will face MnPASS lane closures on Interstate 394 starting next week. Lanes will be closed between Interstate 94 and Highway 100 beginning May 6 in order for crews to replace protective gate arms, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) announced. The agency will close access to the reversible section from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays. Evening, overnight and weekend closures may also be needed. If those closures do wind up being necessary, MnDOT will provide additional information. The section will be open during major downtown Minneapolis events and during the following times: Crews will complete the project in mid July.

The right lane of westbound Interstate 394 was blocked on Wednesday afternoon.
Minnesota Department of Transportation traffic cameras showed that a car fire slowed afternoon commuters through Golden Valley on Wednesday. The incident started around 12:45 p.m. and caused emergency crews to block the right lane of westbound Interstate 394 near Wirth Parkway in Golden Valley. For the second time in a week a standoff shut down a neighborhood in the northwestern suburbs.
Update Jan. 28, 2013 At approximately 4:56 p.m. Jan. 25, Plymouth Police officers responded to a welfare check on the 400 block of Zachary Lane. Officers were unable to make contact with the individual and entered the residence where they located a deceased male, according to the Plymouth Police. The incident remains under investigation. A rollover on Interstate 394 and a crash on Highway 169 added to the mess Tuesday morning.
Two days after Golden Valley and the metro area received almost a foot of snow, Tuesday morning commuters were still feeling the pain of a very slow drive into work. "Double your expected commute and travel times," Lt. Eric Roeske of the Minnesota State Patrol told Patch, "and expect icy patches and slippery spots." Slick roads caused havoc on Interstate 394 and Highway 169. At 7:43 a.m., Minnesota Department of Transportation showed a rollover on westbound Interstate 394 near Louisiana Avenue. Roeske said that the incident was a single vehicle rollover without injuries, though it backed up traffic during rush hour. Golden Valley and Minnetonka Police Departments arrested Jeffrey Frank, of Richfield, at Interstate 394 and Highway 100 on Aug. 21.
The intersection of Interstate 394 and Minnesota Highway 100 was a mess Tuesday morning as multiple agencies converged to take down a fugitive wanted by the Minnesota Department of Corrections. Details of the incident are sketchy, but officers converged on the suspect around 9 a.m. this morning to apprehend the suspect. Minnesota Department of Transportation cameras captured the action as more than a half dozen marked and unmarked vehicles came to the scene. The Facebook site Police Clips stated the fugitive had a record of assaulting officers and fleeing in the past. Patch will have more on this story as it develops. An 89-year-old man was killed in a crash during Wednesday morning rush hour.
A blown tire caused a fatal accident on Interstate 394 in Golden Valley, according to the State Patrol. The State Patrol says Charles Miranda, 89, of Minneapolis, was killed when the vehicle he was riding in, a 2000 Chevy Express van, blew a tire and crashed into the median. The driver of the van was uninjured. Another passenger in the van, an 85-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries. According to the State Patrol website, the crash happened around 9 a.m. this morning on Interstate 394 near Xenia and Park Place. All three people were wearing seat belts, according to the report. Traffic was rerouted and backed up for hours. The interstate was reopened about an hour after the crash.
