A driver led Golden Valley police on a chase early Tuesday morning that culminated near Hopkins’ Mainstreet, Hopkins Police Sgt. Michael Glassberg said. The chase began when Golden Valley officers tried to stop the driver at 12:46 a.m. Golden Valley crime analyst Joanne Paul said that the chase orginated near Interstate 394 and Highway 169. Four Golden Valley police officers tried to stop the man during the four-mile pursuit, according to Paul. Brooklyn Center police say two suspects led officers down Highway 169 before they were arrested near Minnetonka Boulevard.
A police chase Thursday morning began in Brooklyn Center and continued through New Hope and Golden Valley, before ending in Minnetonka. At about 2:40 a.m. Jan. 3, a Brooklyn Center police officer spotted two people driving a stolen car in a parking lot near Shingle Creek Parkway and Freeway Boulevard. When the officer tried to stop the car, the driver accelerated and took police on a 14-mile chase. According to Brooklyn Center Police Department Investigative Commander Tim Gannon, an adult male and adult female drove westbound on Interstate 694 and continued southbound on Highway 169 through New Hope and Golden Valley. A rollover on Interstate 394 and a crash on Highway 169 added to the mess Tuesday morning.
Two days after Golden Valley and the metro area received almost a foot of snow, Tuesday morning commuters were still feeling the pain of a very slow drive into work. "Double your expected commute and travel times," Lt. Eric Roeske of the Minnesota State Patrol told Patch, "and expect icy patches and slippery spots." Slick roads caused havoc on Interstate 394 and Highway 169. At 7:43 a.m., Minnesota Department of Transportation showed a rollover on westbound Interstate 394 near Louisiana Avenue. Roeske said that the incident was a single vehicle rollover without injuries, though it backed up traffic during rush hour.
