Robbinsdale Cooper Students Inspired by Drum Corp Elite

The nation's best drum corps performed at TCF Bank Stadium on Saturday.

The commanding beat of the drums and the powerful resonance of dozens of horns could be heard for miles around TCF Bank Stadium at the University of Minnesota on Saturday. Twenty-five of the nation’s most elite drum corps took to the field for a day of intense competition in the intense heat. This Drum Corps International (DCI) event was made up of world-class corps of up to 150 members. Students in world-class corps are primarily college-age with some high school involvement. Best of the Best American Drum Corps Perform This Weekend

Local Robbinsdale Armstrong graduate among the drum line elite.

This weekend some of the nation’s most elite drum corps will take to the TCF Stadium field. Among them will be Robbinsdale Armstrong graduate Joe Jaeger. Twenty-five corps will perform Saturday at DCI (Drum Corp International) Minnesota, in a field competition on the University of Minnesota Campus.  “It's always been my goal to march in a DCI-level corps,” said Jaeger, 20, of Robbinsdale, in a news release. “I guess I'm living the dream.”  Corps consist of up to 150 marching musicians and visual artists, who play in the drum line or horn line or perform in the color guard.
