Crime Alert: Increase in Residential Thefts

Golden Valley Police are seeing an uptick in the number of thefts from homes in the northeast corner of the city.

Editor's Note: The following information came from the Golden Valley website. In the last two weeks, the Golden Valley Police Department has seen an increase in reported residential crimes, specifically in the northeast (Zone 6) corner of the city. These incidents have all occurred overnight. Please remember to keep doors and windows closed and locked at night and when you are not home. In one overnight incident May 14–15 on the 3100 block of Vista Dr, a suspect entered a home through an unlocked garage service door and stole items, including the homeowner’s wallets, cell phones, keys to their vehicles, a 52-inch television, and one of their vehicles. Crime Alert: GVPD Investigates Several Reports of Theft

Police are concerned with thefts from vehicles in the north central part of Golden Valley, known as zone 2, over the weekend.

Editor's Note: The following content is from a crime alert issued by Golden Valley Police late Monday afternoon. The alert is for the north central part of the city, or zone 2. Over the weekend, Golden Valley Police took several reports of theft from vehicles in the: 6300-6400 block of Winsdale St.; 6300 - 6400 block of Phoenix St.;  6800 blk. of Plymouth Ave.;  1300 blk. of Florida Ave. N. These incidents all occurred overnight (Saturday – Sunday) from cars that are parked in driveways and all of the vehicles had been unlocked.  Unknown thieves stole misc items including: briefcases, GPS units, spare change, and garage door openers.  In one incident, the thieves used one of the garage door openers to gain access into an attached garage …

Crime Alert: Golden Valley Police Investigating Several Thefts

Police say thieves are breaking into vehicles in the North Tyrol area.

Editor's Note: The following crime alert was issued by the Golden Valley Police Department late Friday afternoon. In the few days, Golden Valley Police Department has taken several reports of theft from vehicles.  Thieves are stealing miscellaneous items including: briefcases, laptop computers, checkbooks, stereo equipment and small electronics. At least 3 of these incidents have occurred in the North Tyrol Area along Glenwood Ave. and Westwood Dr. S. These incidents are happening have all occurred overnight from cars that are parked on the street and in driveways.  In all cases the vehicles were locked and forcibly entered by unknown suspect(s). Update: Police Make Arrest in Golden Valley Door-to-Door Scam

Police say Mark Christopher Bell was arrested Tuesday night.

After issuing a crime alert Tuesday afternoon, Golden Valley Police have arrested a man they say was going door-to-door asking for money and stealing from residents. Golden Valley police arrested Mark Christopher Bell for soliciting without a permit after a resident called police Tuesday night. The caller said Bell was going door-to-door saying he needed help because his car had broken down on the highway. Police say when they found Bell, they disproved his story and arrested him.  He was booked and released with a pending court date. Police say Bell looked for opportunities to steal and often told people he needed money to get his vehicle out of impound or that his vehicle had broken down.  Police say he's mentioned being at a church in …
