The National Weather Service issued a winter storm advisory for Golden Valley Sunday evening.
The National Weather Service anticipates upwards of six inches of snow to fall on Golden Valley Sunday night into Monday morning. The storm will drive a powerful cold front through Minnesota by Monday afternoon, and the National Weather Service anticipates wind gusts up to 50 mph. The winds will blow the new snow around during Monday morning's commute, potentially creating near white out conditions—particularly south of I-94 and west of I-35. Transportation officials say that heavy snow on Sunday will lead to a difficult Monday morning commute.
Winter storm Orko dumped snow and ice on most of Minnesota Sunday, including Golden Valley. The heavy snowfall will make driving on Monday morning potentially hazardous. On their Facebook page Sunday, the Minnesota Department of Transportation urged drivers to be careful: Plan ahead now. Leave early for work or work from home if that is possible. When driving, slow down, drive for the road conditions. Give plows room to work. And, the plows are out!! On Twitter, Hennepin County said that all plows were tackling the snow Sunday.
