Still Searching for the Perfect Christmas Tree?

If you are still shopping around, here is a brief guide on the kind of trees being sold in town.

Fraser Fir This is considered the "Cadillac" of Christmas trees. It is fragrant with a distinct blue/silver color on the underside of the needles and has great needle retention. Canaan Fir With an abundance of soft lacing branches, a sweet and spicy fragrance, and strong needle retention, this is a tree of beauty. It is also fairly new to the Christmas tree market. Balsam Fir This is the economical tree. With its dark green color, great shape, sturdy branches, and pleasant balsam aroma, this is a staple on most tree lots. It has a layered appearance commonly associated with traditional Christmas trees. White Pine It is the largest pine in the United States. Giving Back Through Christmas Trees

Valley Community Presbyterian Church uses Christmas trees to help those in need.

Christmas tree hunting takes on a richer meaning when you enter the tree lot at Valley Community Presbyterian Church. "Every tree is a perfect tree because it's being sold with a lot of love." Deb Poynter is among a handful of devoted volunteers working at the Valley Youth Tree Lot this winter. For 26 years, this has been one of a handful places in Golden Valley selling Christmas trees.  This particular tree lot has more than 200 trees, each grown locally, cut fresh and given a special name. But the beauty and freshness of the trees are not the main reasons why locals keep coming back year after year. "We always come and find a tree to support the mission trips."
