Directly across from Golden Valley City Hall is the city's public safety building, home of Fire Station 1. The Golden Valley Fire Department employs four full-time staff members in the administrative offices here, and 50 paid on-call firefighters, 24 of whom have their equipment based at Fire Station 1 in the event of an emergency. Also based at the station are an aerial ladder truck, a pumping engine, a reserve vehicle, a command vehicle and two staff vehicles. The building also has a large meeting room and a kitchen.
