Saturday: Outdoor Volunteering Opportunities in Golden Valley

This Saturday, Sept. 28, Valley Volunteer Day and the Lilac Planting Party still need volunteers to help out.

Looking for an opportunity to make a difference in your community? Here's a couple of volunteering opportunities in Golden Valley coming up this weekend:

• The sixth annual Lilac Planting Party is  9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, brings people together to implement a vision of lilacs, shrubs, and flowers along the sides of Highway 55 through Golden Valley. This year volunteers will restore lilac beds disturbed by recent construction/rehabilitation of the MCES sanitary sewer system along the north side of Hwy 55 between Douglas Drive and Glenwood Avenue.

Volunteers will meet at the Welcome Center, 6681 Country Club Drive (Gurstel Chargo). Registration is 8:30 to 9 a.m. and planting will be followed by a celebration lunch until 2 pm. Individuals and groups are welcome and you can register online.
