Are You Ready to Vote Nov. 8th? Meet the Candidates Tonight (Oct. 26)

The League of Women Voters is hosting an event for you to meet the candidates in person.

November 8th is election day in Golden Valley.  The mayor and two council positions are up for election. It is very important for the citizens of Golden Valley to participate in this election.  It is very important for citizens to be informed about the issues and the candidates as they make their choice.  

The League of Women Voters of Golden Valley is providing several opportunities for citizens to become informed.  First, tonight at 7 p.m. in the , the League is sponsoring a Candidates Meeting.  We invite and encourage all eligible voters in the city to attend.

Each candidate will be given the opportunity to introduce themselves and and make a brief statement explaining their reasons for seeking office.  The audience will be encouraged to submit written questions.  These will be collected and sorted into categories according to topic.  The moderator will then select questions on each topic for the candidates to respond to.  All candidates will have the opportunity to respond to each question.  At the conclusion of the forum each candidate will be given the opportunity to make a brief closing statement. 

After the forum, coffee will be served, and there will be an opportunity to visit with the candidates.  This forum will be broadcast live on Cable Channel 16.  Replays will be broadcast on Cable Channel 12 on the following dates: October 27 at 8:30 and 11 p.m., October 29th at 2 p.m., and October 30th at 9 a.m.

Another way to become informed about the candidates and their positions on issues is to access the website www.vote411.org. This is a League of Women Voters Minnesota website. 

We have encouraged all candidates to submit information to this site.   The League is a non-partisan organization that does not support individual candidates.  We work to provide information and to encourage informed participation in our electoral process.
