Halloween Skincare Survival

Don't let one day of Halloween makeup ruin your skin!

It’s that time of year again to get dressed up and become someone we’re not! We get to wear fun outfits, have crazy hair and do our makeup however we want!! The only concerns one may have on Halloween would be what is that makeup going to do to my skin? Well, I am here to let you know how to keep your skin intact so hopefully you won’t have any post Halloween breakouts or skin issues!

One thing you need to remember is that Halloween makeup is generally heavier and thicker than normal every day makeup and is designed to adhere to the face to give a masking-type effect, while depositing color onto the skin. They are high in artificial colors, fragrances, waxes, fats, chemicals and oils, and they are designed to withstand sweat (for stage & screen) and form an occlusive coating on the skin, which may result in comedones, congestion and full-on breakouts.

Before you even consider putting on that blue glitter or white makeup, think about starting off with a protective base, one word to keep in mind is silicone. A silicone-based moisturizer will not only provide you with a smooth makeup application, it will make a protective shield between the makeup and your skin. This can help prevent irritation on the skin from artificial colors or fragrances

Once the party is over you need to remember to remove the makeup. DO NOT fall asleep in the makeup!! Not only would you be sleeping in heavier than normal makeup, but also sweat, oil, and dead skin cells. You need to remove it if you don’t want to have any skin issues later. One way to make sure it all comes off is to start with a water-loving oil based cleanser. Oil attracts oil, therefore it’s a great cleanser to remove anything on the skin, plus oil-based cleansers are great at dissolving waterproof makeup. Follow this cleanse with another one with a cleanser of your choice to insure that everything is completely removed from the skin. Follow with any treatments and a moisturizer and you are good to go to bed.

As always here at The Beauty Lab, we wish you Happiness, Love and Joy!
