Weekend Reminder: Northbound Hwy 169 To Close From Hwy 55 to Brooklyn Blvd

Starting at 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9, northbound Hwy 169 will be closed from 77th Avenue/Brooklyn Blvd in Maple Grove to Highway 55 in Golden Valley.

It will reopen 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 12. This is the fourth of four scheduled closures for this stretch of northbound Hwy 169.

The last southbound Hwy 169 weekend closure will occur after the consecutive weekend closures on northbound Hwy 169 are complete.

During the closure, motorists should use County Road 81 and Interstates 694/94, 394 and 494 and Highway 100 as alternative routes.

Throughout the past 10 years, extensive repairs to the 7.5 mile stretch of the highway have prolonged the life of the road. Current cracks in the road, declining pavement ride quality indexes and drainage issues necessitate pavement reconstruction. The $12.2 million project will improve the existing and future mobility of the road and provide a smoother road surface. The project also includes installing new guardrails, and improving bus lanes and pedestrian accessibility.
