Canoeing, Kayaking Programs in Three Rivers Park District

Spend the summer canoeing or kayaking area lakes at programs June 9-15, 2013

Kayaking Club
 Spend your Monday evenings paddling along the waterfront of various lakes within Three Rivers Park District. This club is designed to create more on-water practice and experience for kayakers. 

Paddlers will have the opportunity to refine their paddling techniques, learn new strokes and maneuvers, and work towards their individual goals as we explore different parks throughout the summer. 

Cost is $110 and reservations are required. Call 763-559-6700 to make a reservation and reference activity number #324817-10. This program is for ages 18+. All equipment is provided. There will be six total sessions that run from 6:30–8 p.m.

French Regional Park: June 10, August 5, August 19. 
Hyland Lake Park Reserve: June 24. 
Bryant Lake Regional Park: July 8. 
Silverwood Park: July 22. 

KidSplash: Intro to Kayaking
 
Sunday, June 9, from noon.-2 p.m., at French Regional Park, Plymouth. There will be both dry land and water instruction to ensure that you’ll know how to get in and out of your kayak safely, how to make your kayak go in a straight line, spin in one spot, and everything in between. All equipment is provided. Cost is $20 and reservations are required. Call 763-559-6700 and reference activity number #325011-13.  This program is for ages 8-13. 

Canoeing Essentials
 
Sunday, June 9, from 1-3 p.m., at Hyland Lake Park Reserve,Bloomington. Learn proper paddling strokes, maneuvers and techniques for canoeing.  We will also cover water safety, entering and exiting a canoe, and tips for keeping yourself dry and upright.  All equipment is provided. Cost is $15 and reservations are required. Call 763-559-6700 and reference activity number #323011-03.  This program is for ages 12+. 

Adapted Kayak Lessons
 
Wednesday, June 12, from 10 a.m.-noon, at French Regional Park, Plymouth. Enjoy a day on the water using equipment that fits your abilities and at a pace in which you feel comfortable. All equipment is provided. Reservations are required. Phone in reservations only; call 763.694.7717. Scholarships may be available. Cost is $30 and reservations are required. Flatwater Kayaking Essentials
 
Wednesday, June 12, from 5:30-8:30 p.m., at French Regional Park, Plymouth. Our hands-on beginning classes are set up to teach the basics of kayaking from qualified instructors.  Paddlers will learn about safety, proper paddling form, and paddle strokes, all while surrounded by the beauty of a nature-based park. Stand-Up Paddleboard (SUP) Lesson
 
Thursday, June 13, from 6-8 p.m., at Fish Lake Regional Park, Maple Grove. SUP offers a full body workout for the paddler.  All equipment is provided. Cost is $35 and reservations are required. Call 763-559-6700 and reference activity number #325911-09.  This program is for ages 14+.
