As temperatures continue to rise into the heat of summer, the desire to cool off may be satisfied right in your neighborhood. The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board (MPRB) offers many ways to beat the heat, including 12 beaches, 65 wading pools and two water parks. Beaches are currently open, with lifeguards on duty beginning Saturday, June 9.

Theodore Wirth Lake Beach will be guarded from 11 a.m.–7 p.m. Thursday–Sunday.
