Spring Season Marches On

Area squads get in most games despite winter's refusal to let go of frigid grip.

Wednesday and Thursday were far from idea days for competition, but local teams will take what they can get and pressed on with a number of matchups despite the dreary weather.

Armstrong Boys Lacrosse: Falcons 10, Andover 7

A 10-7 defeat at Andover upped the Robbinsdale Armstrong boys lacrosse team to 3-0 on the season as the team now prepares to host Champlin Park on Monday at 6:30 p.m.

Daniel Scalzo leads the Falcons with nine points (five goals, four assists), while Kevin Langerud's eight goals pace the squad.

Armstrong Girls Lacrosse: Falcons 16, Andover 4

A 16-4 throttling of Andover on Wednesday gave the Robbinsdale Armstrong girls lacrosse team a 2-1 record with a Friday matchup against Chaska/Chanhassen at 1:30 p.m.

Talia Shapiro leads the Falcons with 15 goals, with Paige Duerksen logging 11 goals.

Armstrong Baseball: Falcons 4, Champlin Park 3 (8 innings)

The Robbinsdale Armstrong baseball team improved to 6-1 on the season with a 4-3 win over visiting Champlin Park in eight innings on Thursday.

Individual results were not available. The Falcons travel to Osseo for a 4:15 p.m. game on Monday.

Armstrong Softball: Falcons 3, Champlin Park 0

After a 4-1 loss to Centennial on Wednesday, the Robbinsdale Armstrong softball team bounced back to shutout visiting Champlin Park, 3-0, on Thursday to improve to 2-4 on the season.

Individual results were not available. The Falcons are off until next Wednesday when Andover pays a visit for a 4:15 p.m. game.

Armstrong Track And Field: Falcons Boys First, Girls Second In NWSC Meet

The Robbinsdale Armstrong track and field teams competed in a Northwest Suburban Conference meet on Thursday, with the boys winning with 72 points and the girls taking second with 70 points. Individual results were not available.

Cooper Boys Lacrosse: Hawks 10, Irondale 6

The Robbinsdale Cooper boys lacrosse team won its first game of the season with a 10-6 defeat of visiting Irondale on Thursday night.

Alex Su leads the Hawks with 10 goals, while Brigetta Ottoson has logged four goals this spring.

Cooper hosts Totino-Grace on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Breck Girls Golf: Mustangs Tie Blake At Tri-Metro Triangular

Kayla Mork's card of 38 was good for individual medalist honors as the Breck girls golf team defeated St. Anthony and tied Blake for first place with a team score of 188 on Wednesday.

Breck Girls Lacrosse: Mustangs 12, St. Cloud 11 (OT)

The Breck girls lacrosse team went to overtime to defeat visiting St. Cloud, 12-11, in a non-conference slugfest on Thursday to improve to 3-2 on the season.

Carly Schaeder's 13 points lead the Mustangs, who now prepare for a trip to Shattuck-St. Mary's for a 7 p.m. game on Tuesday.

Breck Boys Tennis: Mustangs 4, St. Paul Academy 3

The Breck boys tennis team defeated St. Paul Academy, 4-3, in a Tri-Metro Conference dual match on Thursday. Individual results were not available.

Results were not available for the Breck baseball and Cooper softball, girls golf, boys tennis teams from scheduled contests on Thursday.
