Royals girls soccer team blank third-ranked Eagles on Tuesday night.

The Hopkins girls soccer team claimed its biggest victory of the season on Tuesday, shutting out the then-Lake Conference leader on the road to highlight the early week area athletic schedule.

The tenth-ranked Hopkins football team fell to No. 1 Eden Prairie, 56-7, last Friday night to fall to 2-2 this fall. 

Andre McDonald hauled in a 68-yard touchdown pass from Andy Wicklund in the fourth quarter to break the shutout.

A 26-yard run from Billy Kellogg and a Brennan Macon 6-yard sprint accounted for the Hawks' two touchdowns.

The Cooper girls soccer team broke a five-game losing streak with two-straight shutout wins against Mound Westonka (1-0) and Columbia Heights (6-0) to improve to 3-8-1 on the season. Individual statistics were not made available.

The Cooper boys soccer team topped Columbia Heights, 4-2, on Tuesday for its first victory of the year as the Hawks improved to 1-11 this year. Simeon Ogunyemi led the team with two goals in the victory.

A 3-0 loss to St. Francis dropped the Cooper volleyball team to 3-9 this season. Individual statistics were not made available.

Cooper Girls Tennis

The Cooper girls tennis team topped Fridley, 6-1, on Tuesday. Individual statistics were not made available.

Armstrong Football

A 28-7 win over visiting Coon Rapids improved the Robbinsdale Armstrong football team to 2-2 on the year. 

Earl Young threw for three touchdowns, with Matt Jones catching two touchdowns of eight and 65 yards and Daniel Scalzo grabbing one touchdown of four yards. Romas Thompson also ran for one score of four yards.

The Armstrong girls soccer team tied Coon Rapids, 1-1, on Tuesday to bring its record to 1-7-3 on the season. Individual statistics were not made available.
