Robbinsdale Cooper goes down against Benilde St. Margaret's in a high scoring opener, 48-34

The football team opened up its 2011 season on Thursday with a 48-34 loss against Benilde-St. Margaret’s at home.

The Red Knights (1-0, 1-0 North Suburban Conference) opened up the game with a 20-6 lead after the first quarter. BSM would lead at halftime, but Cooper scored twice in the second quarter to cut the lead to 27-20 at the half.

In the third quarter, the Red Knights took over. BSM scored 14 points and led 41-34 heading into the fourth, and despite the Hawks (0-1, 0-1) outscoring BSM 14-7 in the fourth, the Red Knights held on for the victory.

The Hawks’ next game is on the road against North Suburban Conference rival St. Francis. Game time is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 9.
