Local Teams Battling Competition, Elements

Spring sports season continues, despite winter's resurgence hampering a number of events.

Doing the best that they can against wildly varying weather conditions, St. Michael-Albertville High School teams continued to compete in the early stages of their respective spring seasons that continued despite being hampered by some wintry elements.

Robbinsdale Armstrong Boys Lacrosse: Falcons Open Spring At 2-0

An 11-5 defeat of visiting Centennial on Monday improved the Robbinsdale Armstrong boys lacrosse team to 2-0 on the season, with the Falcons slated to travel to Andover on Wednesday night at 6:30 for its first road game of the year.

Kevin Langerud leads Armstrong with six goals, while Daniel Scalzo has tallied four goals and three assists over the team's first pair of contests.

Breck Softball: Mustangs Sitting at 1-2

The Breck softball team is 1-2 on the seaosn after a 14-1 home loss to Tri-Metro Conference rival Blake on Monday.

Kate Schipper leads the Mustangs with a .333 average, three stolen bases and five runs batted in over the three games.

Breck is scheduled to play at Visitation at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday night.

Robbinsdale Cooper Baseball: Hawks Improve to 6-0

The Robbinsdale Cooper baseball team continues to dismantle its opponents as it has built a 6-0 record while out-scoring its foes 55-17 combined.

Cooper's latest victim was Edina, whom the Hawks defeated 4-1 at home on Monday, following a 9-1 throttling of St. Paul Johnson on Saturday.

Individual statistics were not available. Cooper is scheduled to travel to Totino-Grace on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.

Breck Girls Golf: Laorr Co-Medalist In Mustangs' Tri-Metro Meet

Anna Laorr earned co-medalist honors with a score of 40 as the Breck girls golf team tied for first in its Tri-Metro Conference meet at Goodrich Golf Course on Tuesday.

The Mustangs carded a 185 to tie with St. Croix Lutheran.

The Robbinsdale Armstrong baseball team defeated visiting Elk River, 6-4, on Monday to improve to 4-1 on the season.

Breck Boys Lacrosse: Mustangs Fall To 1-2

Back-to-back losses at Stillwater and Maple Grove on Friday and Monday, respectively, have dropped the Breck boys lacrosse team to 1-2 on the year.

Steven Kiesel leads the Mustangs with 11 goals and four assists, with Keegan O'Connor notching three goals and one assist in three games.

Breck is off until an April 26 home matchup with Blake.

Breck Baseball: Mustangs Split Opening Pair Of Games

The Breck baseball team won its first game of the season in its second try with a 9-4 defeat of host Concordia Academy-Roseville on Monday.

A 7-3 win at Hopkins on Monday improved the Breck girls lacrosse team to 2-2 on the season, with a Thursday home game against St. Cloud Area on tap for Thursday night at 7 p.m.

Carly Schaeder leads the Mustangs with 11 goals and two assists, with Leah Schwartzman scoring three goals in four games.

The Robbinsdale Armstrong softball team is 1-3 on the year after an 18-4 home loss to Elk River on Monday.

Robbinsdale Cooper Girls Lacrosse: Hawks Suffer Third Loss

The Robbinsdale Cooper girls lacrosse team fell, 18-3, at Holy Family Catholic on Monday to drop to 0-3 on the season.

Alex Su leads the Hawks with eight goals, with Lucienne Nagel logging two goals and three assists on the spring.

Cooper is scheduled to travel to Totino-Grace on Wednesday night at 6:30 p.m.

A 19-1 loss to defending state champion Benilde-St. Margaret's on Tuesday dropped the Robbinsdale Cooper boys lacrosse team to 0-3 on the season.

Breck Boys Tennis: Breck Shuts Out DeLaSalle

The Breck boys tennis team defeated DeLaSalle 7-0 on Tuesday to improve to 2-1-1 on the year. Individual results were not available.

Results were not available for the Cooper boys tennis, Armstrong track/field and  Armstrong boys golf teams from competitions scheduled between April 15 and 19.
