Hopkins Grads Lead Illinois Wesleyan to Conference Championship

Senior Rose Kelly and Brittany Levens placed first and second in this weekend’s event.

Two Hopkins High School grads led the Illinois Wesleyan University women’s golf team to its 11th-straight College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin women's golf championship this weekend.

Senior Rose Kelly, an environmental studies major from Hopkins, was the individual tourney medalist—placing first with 249 (85-80-84) in the three-day tournament, which took place Thursday through Saturday at Meadowbrook Country Club in Racine, WI.

Senior Brittany Levens, an accounting major from Golden Valley, placed second with 253 (83-85-85).

Kelly, Levens and the four other Illinois Wesleyan golfers who placed in the top 10 also earned all-conference recognition.

Overall, the team shot a 1018, 80 strokes better than runner-up Carthage. The win qualifies the team for its ninth-straight NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships, to be played May 14-17 at Baytowne Golf Club in Destin, FL.
