Cooper Alumnus Takes Rogers Head Coaching Job

Justin Strunk reportedly leaves the Maple Grove Senior High boys hockey season after six seasons.

After six seasons as the Maple Grove Senior High assistant hockey coach, Justin Strunk will be leading the Rogers High School team as the boys head hockey coach, according to reports.

Strunk is currently a special education teacher at Park Center Senior High and a Robbinsdale Cooper High School graduate, according to the Elk River Star News

Strunk coached the last six years under Maple Grove Senior High head hockey coach Gary Stefano, according to Crow River News SportsStefano’s contract was not renewed for the 2013-14 season and Tom Starkey was named the new head boys hockey coach for Maple Grove Senior High.

“When your school and community can be behind you it develops that excitement and a sense of community pride. That’s one of the big things that brought me to Rogers. I want to help with the youth association and get community members and local businesses involved,” Strunk told Crow River News Sports.

Former Royals head coach Tim Marchan retired in June.
