Area Teams Play Games While The Sun Shines

Cold, but cooperative weather allows for a full schedule on Monday and Tuesday.

Brisk, but dry weather made for as ideal of a two-day stretch as most local high school teams have seen this spring and the local squads made the most of the opportunity with a full slate of games on Monday and Tuesday.

Benilde-St. Margaret's Baseball: Totino-Grace 6, Red Knights 2

The Benilde-St. Margaret's baseball team fell into third place in the North Suburban standings after a 6-2 loss at Totino-Grace on Monday night.

After the Red Knights took a 2-1 lead in the first inning, the Eagles held their visitors without another tally to hand BSM their second defeat in conference play.

Greg Ziman and Patrick Daly scored the Red Knights' runs, with Jimmy Heck and Joe Melles claiming the runs batted in. Heck, the BSM starting pitcher, suffered the loss.

The Red Knights, 7-3 overall and 7-2 in the North Suburban, travel to conference foe Chisago Lakes for a 4:30 p.m. game on Wednesday.

Benilde-St. Margaret's Softball: Red Knights 10, Columbia Heights 4

A 10-4 defeat of Columbia Heights improved the Benilde-St. Margaret's softball team to 5-2 overall and in conference play.

Individual results were not available. The Red Knights host St. Louis Park on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

Benilde-St. Margaret's Boys Lacrosse: Red Knights 10, Blake 9

Christian Rekow's goal late in the fourth quarter broke a 9-9 tie as the Benilde-St. Margaret's boys lacrosse team improved to 8-0 and handed nearby rival Blake its first loss of the season on Tuesday night.

Rekow had three goals in all, while Will Hoesley led the way with four tallies.

BSM is now off until a May 10 contest at Totino-Grace.

Benilde-St. Margaret's Boys Tennis: Red Knights Split Monday, Tuesday Matches

A 7-0 defeat of St. Francis on Tuesday followed a 6-1 loss to Wayzata on Monday to send the Benilde-St. Margaret's boys tennis team into its mid-week matches with a 7-2 record. Individual results were not available.

Benilde-St. Margaret's Boys Golf: Red Knights Win At Bunker Hills

The Benilde-St. Margaret's boys golf team won its North Suburban meet at Bunker Hills Golf Course on Monday with a score of 322. 

On Tuesday, the Red Knights finished 13th at the Nelson Invitational at the Ridges at Sand Creek with a score of 331.

Benilde-St. Margaret's Girls Golf: Red Knights Finish First, Second In Conference Meets

The Benilde-St. Margaret's girls golf team took first and second, respectively, in North Suburban meets on Monday and Tuesday afternoons. 

Individual results were not available. The Red Knights recorded a 390 over 18 holes to win at Bunker Hills Golf Course on Monday and a 197 over nine holes for a runner-up finish at Victory Links Golf Course on Tuesday.

Cooper Baseball: Hawks 10, St. Francis 7

A 10-7 defeat of St. Francis on Monday night kept the Robbinsdale Cooper baseball team unbeaten at 9-0 overall and 6-0 in the North Suburban.

JJ Cruikshank scored three goals for the Hawks in the loss. Cooper travels to Holy Family Catholic in Waconia for a 7 p.m. game on Thursday.

Cooper Girls Lacrosse: Orono 20, Hawks 13

The Robbinsdale Cooper girls lacrosse team put up a baker's dozen worth of goals, but fell at Orono, 20-13, on Tuesday night.

Lucianne Nagel led the Hawks with five goals, while Brigetta Ottoson scored three times.

Cooper hosts St. Louis Park on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.

Cooper Girls Track And Field: Hawks Seventh At Invitational

The Robbinsdale girls track and field team finished seventh at the St. Louis Park Invitational on Monday with 75 points. Individual statistics were not available.
