6AA Boys Tennis Championships Begin Today

Patch is keeping an eye on Robbinsdale Armstrong and Cooper athletes.

The Section 6AA boys tennis individual and doubles championships begin Tuesday at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center.

The event begins at 8 a.m. Tuesday and resumes with the semifinals and championship matches on Wednesday.

s Mark Conrad is the No. 2 seed in the individual tournament. He’ll face Holy Angels’ Peter McGrane or Minneapolis Patrick Henry’s Meng Thao in the second round.

Robbinsdale Armstrong’s Nathaniel Kurtzweg will face ’s Tyler Cogswell in the first round of the individual tournament. The winner will face top-seeded Hopkins senior Ryan Erickson in the second round. 

Cooper’s Vaughn Rowles will face Benilde-St. Margaret’s Andrew Poley.

In doubles, Cooper’s teams are matched up with St. Louis Park. Ian Jones and Peter Nguyen will face the Orioles’ Joshua Anderson and Zach Swanson, while Joseph Lavalier and Dustiin Schultz will take on St. Louis Park’s Karl Switaala and Jon Ribnick.

For Armstrong, Luke Seaburg and Nathaniel Rudd will face Richfield’s Nick Pritchard and Paul Youngblom, while Nathan Vrnig and Matthew Speier will face Richfield’s Ben Dimond and Shawn Tandon.
