The Seven Dreams Education Foundation (SDEF) announced a three-year commitment to fund the Young People’s Symphony Concert (YPSC) held each year at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis for district third graders.  The foundation held a kick-off assembly for third graders at that was videotaped and then broadcast to third graders at all eight other elementary schools.

The financial commitment translates into approximately $4000 per year and covers the cost for preparatory classroom visits by Minnesota Orchestra musicians, the concert and bus transportation.

“We’re working to inspire the next generation of musicians by involving them in early music appreciation,” explained Debbie Fitzsimmons, SDEF president.

SDEF is looking forward to this year’s hands-on learning grants to support innovative ideas in the classrooms and with programs. The foundation is focusing funding on improved technology and ways of connecting to students and families.

“While students enjoyed their homework-free summer, we were busy planning for student programs in the Robbinsdale Area Schools,” said Fitzsimmons.  “We can’t wait to hear about their achievements.”
