Robbinsdale Students Promote Music in the Streets Campaign

Students from Robbinsdale Area Schools braved the cold last Saturday and took to the streets with their instruments in hand. Students serenaded residents in front of local businesses as part of the Seven Dreams Foundation's Music in the Streets event, an activity to promote the Instruments for Kids campaign.

Started by the Seven Dreams Foundation, the Instrument for Kids campaign is a fundraising program for Robbinsdale Area Schools. The goal of campaign is to raise $50,000 and collect 100 donated instruments, all of which go to the district's schools. The money raised will go toward the purchase and repair of instruments for students.

At a school board business meeting Monday night, Superintendent Aldo Sicoli praised the Seven Dreams Foundation for their work.

"The Seven Dreams Foundation partnered with 33 local businesses across our seven cities," Sicoli said. "I want to thank the Seven Dreams Foundation for this wonderful initiative."

Jane Hagstrom, one of the organizers of the event, said that it was a complete success. 

"The event was to make the community aware that we need instruments for kids," Hagstrom said. "All of the sites that I went to, I was able to meet with the [business] manager on duty and thank them, and they were all very supportive of this."
