Robbinsdale Federation of Teachers Announces EA of the Year
RTF honored Educational Assistant Deb Olesen last week in recognition of her decades long service and dedication.
The Robbinsdale Federation of Teachers has named staffer Deb Olesen its 2011 Educational Assistant of the Year. Olesen was selected in recognition of her longtime service to the Robbinsdale school district and her professional dedication.
Though she began her career as an EA in 2001, Olesen traces her relationship with Robbinsdale Area Schools all the way back to 1989, when she served as a volunteer. The honoree is currently a union advocate and frequently represents EAs at district meetings and forums.
Olesen attended the 2009 National Education Support Professionals Conference in Baltimore Maryland, as well as this year's Education Minnesota Representative Convention. She received multiple nominations for the award.

This is the first time RFT has conferred the EA of the Year distinction. The board hopes to make it an annual tradition, alongside a Teacher of the Year award.
