Perpich Day at the Capitol

Visiting Chinese students get the royal treatment.

Students, alumni, teachers and parents shared the work of the Perpich Center
for Arts Education with state lawmakers during Perpich Day at the Capitol. It was the chance for those served by the Perpich Center to emphasize
the value and importance of the work of the Golden Valley-based state agency.

The Capitol Rotunda provided an acoustically arresting environment for the
Arts High School African Drummers, under the direction of Music instructor Janice Hunton. Lawmakers and others at the Capitol applauded their spirited performance, as well as a folk quartet, who also played in the Rotunda.

Currently, a group of 13 high school students from Luoyang, China are visiting
Golden Valley as part of a cultural and educational exchange with the Perpich
Center. The students visited the Capitol in connection with Perpich Day, and
were introduced to Lieutenant Governor Yvonne Prettner Solon. Golden
Valley State Representative Ryan Winkler  also introduced the Chinese students
from the floor of the House.
