Noble Elementary Rewards Poetry

Students from Noble Elementary in Golden Valley received awards for writing poetry.

Noble elementary students gathered to hear third, fourth and fifth grade students recite their favorite poems at the 43rd annual Interpretive Reading Contest on February 22nd. Each classroom in grades 3-5 selected two students to represent them in the final contest.

The contest judges the creative interpretation of a poem, which must be at least 30 seconds long.

This year’s contestants were: Kaitlyn Daoheuang, Saliem Eskinder, Kashari Flannery, Colin Johnson, Victoria Cruz Marquez, Abby Hawkinson, Zoe Hoornbeek, Sean O’Driscoll, Alexandra Alvarado, Cinque Jones, Serena Guye, Brenden Many, Briana Fongvongsa, Ellie Reed, Britta Evenson, Nora Pearson, Sydni McCracken and Claire Redding.

Britta Evenson won first place with her interpretation of “Uncle Dave’s Car”, by Helen Ksypka. Victoria Cruz Marquez won second place with her interpretation of “Belinda Blue” by Jack Prelutsky, and Sean O’Driscoll won third place with her interpretation of “Baloney” by Florence Parry Heide.
