New Coordinator for Magnet School in District 281

Robbinsdale School District selects a coordinator for its new school of engineering and arts.

The School of Engineering and Arts (SEA), the district's new K-5 Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) magnet school at Olson Elementary now has a coordinator.

Cara Rieckenberg brings to the SEA School a diverse blend of rich experiences in education and science. With a combined ten years of experience as a sixth grade teacher and Environmental Education Coordinator, Cara transformed the Prior Lake-Savage Area School District to one focused on integration and implementation of Environmental Education into all curricular areas.

She developed and maintained student leadership opportunities, multiple professional development opportunities and non-traditional classroom spaces. The result led to some of the top MDE MCA elementary science scores in the state, among other accolades.

Beyond her work with the Prior Lake-Savage schools, Cara has worked as Assistant Camp Director for Camp Foley, Adjunct Faculty member at St. Catherine University, and as an Environmental Education Consultant at Hamline University’s Center for Global Environmental Education. She has also worked with numerous state agencies and multiple schools statewide, providing professional development on an integrated curriculum approach.
