Meadowbrook Students Plant Gardens

On the last few days of school students planted vegetables in raised boxes outside the school.

For the fourth year, Meadowbrook Elementary students have planted a vegetable garden. This year the school added four raised boxes to the backyard; each packed with veggies of all kinds.

Local families can volunteer to take care of a garden box over the summer, and take the produce home. During the school year, the vegetables are used for lunch. The fresh food is added to the school's fruit and vegetable bar or used in the main course.

Meadowbrook Principal Greta Evans-Becker says the garden teaches kids where food comes, and gives them a better understanding of how food arrives at the table.
