Senior Coffee Talk

Gasoline Stations - An icon of the American Landscape. This interesting talk will discuss the rise in automobile ownership, gasoline marketing, and the style and diffusion of gasoline stations in Minneapolis in the last century. The expansion of stations to neighborhoods was part of the larger diffusion of commercial ventures from the core cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul that began in the 1880’s. Presented by Paula Pentel, whose thesis on Gasoline Stations fulfilled her requirements for a Masters of Arts Degree from the U of M. Ms. Pentel teaches at the U of M, is a resident and council member of Golden Valley.
