Curtain Up at the Perpich Center

Make plans now for the much-anticipated May musical 'Into the Woods.'

The Music and Theater programs at present Into the Woods, by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine.

The musical play showcases the singing, acting and musical talents of 11th and 12th grade Arts High School students who come to theArts High School from all areas of Minnesota.

Into the Woods brings together characters from several of Grimm's fairy tales, taking them through their original endings and on to their not-so-happy ever afters.  With humor and some darkness, the play reflects upon the whimsical, petty, natural, voracious, and not-so-easily-met, human desires  that drive the action in the stories.

Into the Woods won Tony Awards in 1987 for Best Score and Best Book, and the play has enjoyed many professional revivals.  It presents a delightful and rigorous challenge to students.

The show will be onstage from  May 11-14 in the Perpich Black Box Theater at 6125 Olson Mem. Hwy, Golden Valley. Curtain is 7:30.

The show is open to the public and all are welcome.  The musical will be part of the city of Golden Valley's 125th Anniversary celebrations, so keep an eye out for school tours this same weekend.

Tickets: $8.00 for adults, $5.00 for children under 12 and senior citizens.  Free to PCAE staff and students. Reservation line:  763-591-4769.
