Big Honor for RMS IB Coordinator

Lauren Hildebrand has been elected president of the MN State Association of IB World Schools.

Lauren Hildebrand, the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (IBMYP) Coordinator at Robbinsdale Middle School, has been elected President of the Minnesota State Association of IB World Schools.  This is the first time a Middle Years Programme coordinator has been elected to this office.

Hildebrand’s duties will include presiding over the state association’s International Baccalaureate (IB) school coordinators and member school district administrators, as well as the Board of Directors.  She will represent Minnesota at the annual IB meeting of state associations and promote Minnesota’s presence internationally.

Hildebrand will also work with the state legislature and the university system to help them continue to recognize, understand and access IB across Minnesota.

Hildebrand has been the coordinator of IBMYP in the Robbinsdale Area Schools since 1998.  The district’s Middle Years Programme was the first one of its kind in the state and only one of 27 in the country at the time.  There are now 446 IBMYP schools across the country.  She has also traveled for IB to help authorize and evaluate schools; acted as a consultant and presented training workshops for teachers, coordinators and administrators around the U.S. and Canada; and has served on the Education Committee of the IB World Board of Governors for the past three years.
