Are you a ‘Free Spirit’ Student Journalist?

Apply for your chance to win a competitive journalism scholarship opportunity by March 1st.

We know applying for college and finding the means to go is tough.  Golden Valley Patch is working to make it easier on you.  Our mom and schools expert, , is working to bring you some great advice to make it easier for you.

In the meantime, we heard about this scholarship, and the deadline is Tuesday, so we're letting you know about it now.

51 students nationwide will be selected for the Al Neuharth Free Spirit Scholarship and Journalism Conference this year.

This unique program is open to all high school juniors and is meant to encourage, mentor, and support young people aspiring to lead careers in journalism.

This year’s journalism conference will be held in Washington, D.C. at the Newseum from July 9 to the 14th, 2011.

It is a conference for students who are between their junior year and senior year of high school.

In addition to an all-expense paid journalism conference in Washington, D.C., scholarship recipients will also be awarded their $1,000 scholarship in person.

The scholarship committee is looking for exceptional high school juniors with a passion for journalism and those who can clearly express why they consider themselves a free spirit.
