A Children's Theater Group is Set to Perform in Golden Valley

The King's Players, a children's theater group in Golden Valley, will perform "The Quatanius Connection" this weekend.

A cast of 28 children is getting ready to take the stage this weekend. The King’s Players Children’s Theatre will perform “The Quatanius Connection,” a musical with an energetic cast, crazy costumes and songs from the 50s through the 80s.

“The show is about a rock star that has been abducted by aliens and is gone for 30 years,” Theater Director Kathy Boecher said. “When the main character returns to earth everything is different, including music.”

Boecher, who has worked in theater for three decades, wrote the unique plot.

“I don’t know where I come up with these ideas,” she chuckled. “I guess I have strange dreams and they lend themselves to creative shows.”

The King's Players, which is operated out of King of Grace Lutheran Church, put on two shows a year and do all rehearsals on the weekends.

“The program offers everyone a chance to perform,” Boecher said. “The program includes training in dance, voice and drama and all of the skills come together in a final production.”

For student actress Tegan Bowar, there is nothing quite like acting. “I get a chance to be a different person,” she said.

The 13-year-old Osseo Junior High student says the cast is excited to show off their skills.

“We all have some jitters, but we’ll be great,” she said. “We’ve all worked really hard on singing and dancing and memorizing our lines.”

Boecher is expecting about one hundred people to come to each of their three shows.

“I really hope the public can come out and see how wonderful these kids are,” she said. “Children are so uninhibited and free on the stage, it’s just a great thing to watch.”

“” will be held at King of Grace Lutheran Church on January 27 and 28 at 7:00 p.m. and on January 29 at 3:00 p.m. The suggested ticket price is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
