School of Engineering and Arts Hosts International Guests

The School of Engineering and Arts (SEA) had special visitors come to school on Monday. The school hosted scientists and engineers from Argentina, Australia, Bhutan, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Indonesia, Italy and Tunisia. The Minnesota Department of Agriculture recommended SEA as the school the international leaders visit while in Minneapolis and guests said this visit was one of their favorite stops of their trip around America.

While traveling across the country, the visitors hope to learn more about U.S. policies and programs related to agriculture and see what students learn about agriculture in the classroom. SEA third graders showed guests how students help plant and maintain the natural garden and kinder-garden, drop pumpkins from buildings, grow vegetables and learn about growth cycles.

Cara Rieckenberg, STEAM Coordinator at SEA, said "this was a wonderful opportunity for our students to host and tour adults who have these STEAM-focused jobs we are always telling our students about.  It was an even better cross-cultural experience as our students were able to speak Spanish and Chinese to our guests and learn about some of the traditions and practices held in other countries that are related to STEAM. We were lucky and proud to have the opportunity."
