Open House to Address Proposed Zoning Changes
Golden Valley will answer questions on upcoming zoning and construction project.
Golden Valley residents interested in proposed zoning changes in the area and the Harold Avenue reconstruction are invited to an open house at City Hall June 23 from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
The proposed rezoning is a part of the city’s Comprehensive Plan. It would change the area between Winnetka Avenue and Glenwood Avenue--west of Spirit of Hope United Methodist Church--from a Single Family (R-1) residential zone to Medium Density (R-3) residential. The Golden Valley City Council would also rezone the area east of the church to Moderate Density (R-2) residential.
According to city planner Joe Hogeboom, the rezoning would not mean immediate change, but it would allow for additional options.

The proposed rezoning is one of eight Golden Valley areas that would implement the city’s new land-use designations outlined in the Comprehensive Plan.
Residents attending the open house will receive general zoning information and specific reconstruction information for residents living along Harold Avenue. The City Council will hold public hearings for the rezoning and reconstruction projects at a future date to be announced.
