New Repair Shop Looking to Open in Golden Valley

A new car mechanic's shop is hoping to open up in Golden Valley—if the Planning Commission agrees.

According to documents posted on the city website, Monday night's commission meeting is slated to discuss whether or not "The Alignment Guy" can open at 6124 Olson Memorial Highway. The owner, Jeff Forss, proposes to build an all-new building to house his business, but he needs a Conditional Use Permit from the city. The property is currently zoned for industrial uses.

In a letter to the city included in the commission's agenda packets, Forss says he needs to move his business from its current Bloomington location because his current landlord has sold the building he currently operates out of, and his lease is not being renewed. His shop, Forss says specializes in wheel alignment and various underbody work for contemporary and classic sports cars.
