New Apartment Complex Plans Receives Golden Valley City Council Approval

The council recently approved the amendment to the final plan of development for the proposed Arcata apartment complex in Golden Valley.

Despite concerns expressed by some Golden Valley City Council members about the number of parking spaces, a final plan of development request to build the Arcata apartment complex was approved March 5.

Construction of the 173-unit apartment complex is planned near the current Colonnade office building on the Xenia Avenue/Golden Hills Drive intersection.

The six story complex (seven including parking) will be located a 2.05-acre lot with the building spanning 255,275 square feet.

The Golden Valley City Council approved the preliminary design plans in December. After concern was raised by the city about onsite parking availability and the Golden Valley’s parking requirement, the final plan included an additional 22 parking spaces. The plan outlines for a total of 220 parking stalls and work with the Colonnade office building management to possibly “secure” more parking spots for residents and visitors.

Since the preliminary plans, a “decorative water feature” has been added on the northwest corner of the site, according to documents provided to the council.

Due to spacing limitations on the site, the developer is working on parking and construction plans such securing parking for the labor force, delivery, material storage and other items.

Trammel Crow Company, the project developer, would reportedly begin building in the late spring or early summer of 2013 pending final PUD approval.
