Golden Valley Rep to Nurses: 'You are Not Alone.'

Winkler says there's anti-union sentiment in Minnesota legislature.

Addressing hundreds of Minnesota nurses rallying at the State Capitol on Tuesday, Rep. Ryan Winkler (DFL-44B), of Golden Valley, said collective bargaining isn’t just a Wisconsin issue.

“Just this morning we heard a bill that was heard in committee that would take away the ability of local governments to provide pension and retirement benefits to their employers,” Winkler said to the nurses.  “I’m here with one simple message: You are not alone.”

Winkler urged nurses in Minnesota keep a spotlight on lawmakers in St. Paul.

“Day after day, we are fighting back an attack on collective bargaining and your ability to have a simple voice at the table for your salary, your benefits and your ability to provide good care for patients," Winkler said.
