Easiest Winter in 81 years

The temperature could hit 50 degrees in the Twin Cities Tuesday, adding to one of the warmest winters in decades.

The bizarre winter weather continues as temperatures climb into the 50s today. Don’t be surprised if the mercury rises to 52 degrees, as the bizarre winter weather continues.

“I really thought we were going to be punished for this unusually nice winter,” Donna Prevo said. The Golden Valley native says she can’t remember a winter like this. She’s right. The last time Minnesota had a winter like this was before Prevo was born.

According to weather records, this is the “easiest winter” Minnesotans have seen in 81 years. The last winter with similar temperatures and lack of snow was in 1930-1931. In 2001 Minnesota had a slightly warmer winter, but dealt with 66 inches of snow.

“I know March can bring a lot of snow, but with such a nice week predicted it’s hard to believe this month will be harsh,” Prevo said. “I hope I didn’t just jinx us by saying that.”

The forecast for the rest of the week looks good. Wednesday will cool off a bit, around 40 degrees, and will bring some spring-like showers our way. Wednesday looks to be the coolest day of the week, and then temperatures climb again. Meteorologists predict another 50-degree day on Saturday.
